Audience for my media product

Changes-

Although initially  I wanted my magazine to be completely focused on sophisticated fashion, I slightly adjusted this idea in order to fit my age range. Although I did show elegance in my magazine, I also showed quite a indie and rock/pop artist who can dress both up and down. I believe this suited my target audience well as it was quite a young age range.

I also thought much more of the magazine contents would focus on fashion, however I again adapted this more to music as it was meant to be a more music based magazine.

I adapted the colour scheme as initially I was going to use pastel colours such as light pink/ light blue- however I decided having a consistent colour of a vintage ruby red as this stood out on the page and was very eye catching. It also linked well to my magazine name which again helped the reader to connect more.

I experimented with my main photo on my front cover as in my rough plan I was going to do a standard photo of my model standing, looking directly into the camera. After I took a range of photos, I decided to go against this as most magazines do this and I wanted to do something a bit different. I think I got a good effect having my model on the floor with limited eye contact as it suggests a cool and relaxed character which is suitable for my target audience.

Who would market my product?

Magazine conventions I have used in my pages

I have produced a short film in order to show the comparisons between what I have used in my magazine and how other genuine magazines do it too in each of my pages.

My feature article analysis

Within my article, I was planing on embedding a photo of my artist before her musical career. However- when making my feature article, I found that the page would look too busy and squashed having a photo within the text so I didn't use this as I wanted a clean and slick look.

My contents page analysis

I used used one column in my contents page to get a more formal and cleaner look. In my initial draft I was originally going to use many columns, however I later realised that having a large, dominant image which takes up a lot of the page is needed instead. It would then appear eye-catching and attract the reader. After looking at other music magazines such as 'Q'- this is what they do too.
